Sweet and Sour Pork Recipe Using Outdoor-Reared Lean Diced Pork

This sweet and sour pork recipe highlights the tenderness and flavor of your outdoor-reared lean diced pork, paired with a tangy sauce that’s perfect for serving over rice or noodles. It’s a quick and satisfying dish for any night of the week.


Ingredients

For the Pork:

  • 500g outdoor-reared lean diced pork
  • 2 tbsp cornflour
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

For the Sauce:

  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 2 tbsp white vinegar or rice vinegar
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 100ml pineapple juice (from a can of pineapple chunks)
  • 1 tsp cornflour mixed with 2 tbsp water (for thickening)

For the Stir-Fry:

  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 large onion, roughly chopped
  • 1 carrot, thinly sliced
  • 1 small can of pineapple chunks (drained, juice reserved)

Method

1. Prepare the Pork

  1. Toss the diced pork in the cornflour, seasoned with a pinch of salt and pepper.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a large frying pan or wok over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the pork and stir-fry for 4–5 minutes until golden brown. Remove from the pan and set aside.

2. Cook the Vegetables

  1. In the same pan, add a little more oil if needed.
  2. Stir-fry the onion, bell peppers, and carrot for 4–5 minutes until slightly softened.

3. Make the Sauce

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the ketchup, vinegar, soy sauce, brown sugar, and pineapple juice.
  2. Pour the sauce into the pan with the vegetables and bring to a gentle simmer.
  3. Stir in the cornflour slurry and cook for 1–2 minutes until the sauce thickens.

4. Combine

  1. Return the pork to the pan, along with the pineapple chunks.
  2. Stir well to coat the pork and vegetables in the sauce.
  3. Simmer for an additional 2–3 minutes until everything is heated through.

5. Serve

  • Serve the sweet and sour pork over steamed rice or noodles.
  • Garnish with chopped spring onions or sesame seeds, if desired.

  • For a crispier pork, you can shallow-fry the cornflour-coated pieces in a little more oil before adding them to the sauce.

Frozen Product

Any frozen product you receive from us will have a frozen use by date on it. 

When defrosting we recommend taking the product out of the freezer and defrosting gradually in you fridge. Depending on the size of the product you should take it out 2-3 days prior to use and use it within 2 days
