Sticky Glazed Belly Pork Slices Recipe

Your outdoor-reared belly pork slices are ideal for this sticky, flavorful dish. Slow-cooked for tenderness and finished with a sweet and savory glaze, these pork slices are perfect for a hearty meal or an indulgent treat.

Ingredients

For the Pork:

  • 1kg outdoor-reared belly pork slices
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper

For the Glaze:

  • 4 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar (or white vinegar)
  • 1 tsp sesame oil (optional)
  • 1 tsp chili flakes (optional, for a spicy kick)

Method

1. Marinate the Pork

  1. In a bowl, mix the garlic, ginger, soy sauce, olive oil, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
  2. Rub the marinade over the belly pork slices, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and marinate in the fridge for at least 1 hour (or overnight for best results).

2. Pre-Cook the Pork

  1. Preheat your oven to 160°C (140°C fan).
  2. Place the marinated pork slices in a roasting tray in a single layer.
  3. Cover with foil and roast for 1.5 hours, turning halfway through. This ensures the pork becomes tender while retaining its moisture.

3. Make the Glaze

  1. While the pork is roasting, combine the honey, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, vinegar, sesame oil (if using), and chili flakes (if desired) in a small saucepan.
  2. Heat gently, stirring until the glaze is smooth and slightly thickened. Set aside.

4. Glaze and Finish the Pork

  1. Increase the oven temperature to 200°C (180°C fan) or preheat the grill.
  2. Remove the foil from the pork and brush generously with the glaze.
  3. Return to the oven or place under the grill for 10–15 minutes, turning and basting occasionally, until the pork is caramelized and sticky.

5. Serve

  • Serve the sticky belly pork slices with steamed rice, a crisp green salad, or roasted vegetables.
  • Garnish with sesame seeds or chopped spring onions for extra flavor.

Chef’s Tips

  • For an Asian twist, add a splash of sriracha or sweet chili sauce to the glaze.
  • Leftovers (if any!) can be shredded and used in wraps or sandwiches for an easy next-day meal.

This sticky glazed belly pork slices recipe brings out the natural richness of your outdoor-reared pork, delivering a dish that’s indulgent, tender, and full of flavor. Enjoy!
